Trending below average to round out the weekend
We’re off to a chilly start this morning so make sure to grab that jacket before stepping outside. Sunday will warm up into the mid to upper 50s once again with a few clouds filling our skies through the afternoon. Winds will be light out of the west 5-10 mpg but will increase the 8-13 mph this afternoon. Seasonal temperatures in the 60s will return Monday with mostly sunny skies. Temperatures will steadily increase into the low 70s by the end of the week.
Students team up with nature society for MLK Day clean-up event
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The West Augustine Nature Society is teaming up with Rotary and the Interact Club from St. Augustine High School for a Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service/CommUNITY Day event on MLK Day. Volunteers will be picking up trash and recycling off the streets, as littering is a major problem in the neighborhood, organizers said. The West Augustine Nature Society’s mission is to help the community become a cleaner, greener place despite the recent increase in development and the constant littering, including disposal of garbage and debris in wetlands and natural areas, the organization said. Masks are required for volunteers, who will also be asked to social distance. You can join in to help honor Martin Luther King Jr. with a day of service and action in the community.
Rain moving through this evening, chilly weekend ahead
The rain should be offshore by the middle of the evening and clearing skies will follow. Saturday will be cold, sunny, and windy. Those temperatures will feel even chillier thanks to westerly winds between 15-20 mph with gusts closer to 30mph. Sunday starts our near freezing with frost and only warms into the chilly upper 50s, but the westerly winds will be lighter, in the 5-10 mph range. Thursday expect lovely low 70s and mostly sunny skies- now there’s something we can look forward too!
