A man who was 17 years old when he was arrested in 2019 in the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old Ed White High student was sentenced Friday to serve 15 years in state prison for the girl’s death.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of a fire Wednesday afternoon in Jacksonville’s Whitehouse neighborhood that, according to the Jacksonville Fire and Recue Department, resulted in the death of one person.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man and woman were found dead Friday morning in the home off Beaver Street and another man was hospitalized after being shot in the house, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. Watershed Drive North, in the Whitehouse area west of Interstate 295, was closed due to police activity for several hours. Detectives said a gun was found and they were investigating if this was a murder-suicide, but that was not confirmed. Neighbors said they had seen a man and woman move into the house less than a month ago. “Just seeing everything going on, it’s kind of crazy,” neighbor Tyrell Wilson said.

Residents there said a recent drainage project meant to alleviate flooding is actually making the flooding worse. The Old Plank Road Outfall Improvements project was meant to help control water flow in Jacksonvilles Whitehouse area on the Westside. Yarber said in the 40 years hes lived there he has never experienced flooding like this aside from a hurricane.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – At least one person was injured in a crash Sunday afternoon on Beaver Street in the Whitehouse area, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The FHP website shows the crash was reported just after 3:15 p.m. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said Beaver Street was shut down between Maple Avenue and Jones Road.

Tremayne Javares Robinson, 17, is charged with murder and evidence tampering in the death of the 17-year-old girl, identified by family as Alayshia Powe. Police said they found the teenage girl dead of what appeared to be a gunshot wound inside the residence. According to the Sheriff's Office, the gun used to kill the teenage girl was found after Robinson tried to get rid of it near the scene.

Its unclear what led to the shooting, but Powe's death has left relatives and neighbors heartbroken. Powes death comes just two weeks before a family reunion in Atlanta. No suspects were identified by police, but Powe's family members said they were told by the lead detective that a male suspect is in custody.
