A 61-year-old man is accused of trying to kill someone who was in the Duclay neighborhood Saturday to perform lawn work.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Friday afternoon apartment shooting in the Duclay neighborhood on the city’s Westside.

A 25-year-old Jacksonville police officer is in the hospital with critical injuries after being shot Sunday morning in the Duclay neighborhood, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said a man shot a woman and then killed himself inside a home on Steventon Way in the Westland Oaks neighborhood.

Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department confirmed to News4JAX that one person died and another was taken to the hospital Sunday morning in the Duclay area.
