WJXT-TV in Jacksonville, Florida is looking for a Weekend Assignment Editor who will also step into the roles of Producer and Associate Producer during the weekdays. As part of this multifaceted position, you will help champion our digital presence through web and social media content while also working closely with Executive Producers on various content development and projects.
The Assignment Editor at WJXT-TV is responsible for generating compelling stories, setting up interviews, and coordinating field crews as needed. We’re seeking a candidate with strong writing, editing, and research skills. We need storytellers who understand the importance of community.
The ideal candidate is a natural leader with a knack for problem-solving and decision-making. We need someone who understands critical thinking and is adept at organization and planning. You must be able to navigate the pressures of a competitive, fast-paced news environment.
At WJXT-TV, teamwork is a core value and a cornerstone of how we operate. This role includes conducting weekend conference calls to ensure seamless communication and collaboration among managers, producers, reporters, and anchors.
Qualifications:
Prefer candidate with at least two years of experience in a TV newsroom. Must perform well under pressure and meet deadlines. This position requires someone who agrees to flexible schedule, can fill in on all shifts as needed, including holidays. Prefer degree in communications or related field.
Requirements:
Expect to work long hours, weekends and holidays as needed.
