Cops: Man burned down home to impress woman

North Dakota man charged with arson, several other felonies

A North Dakota man recently went to great lengths to impress a woman.

According to police, Fredrick Bohjanen, Jr. , was charged with arson and several other felonies after setting fire to a farmhouse northwest of Fargo, the Park Rapids Enterprise reported.

He's also suspected in a string of car battery thefts.

A witness told police Bohjanen was planning to sell the batteries to buy marijuana.

That witness also told police he and Bohjanen were drinking with two women recently when one of them asked Bohjanen to burn down a house.

They drove to another farmhouse, and Bohjanen set a sheet on fire. It set the farmhouse ablaze, and the four -- who had been drinking -- drove away and watched it burn from a distance, police told the Enterprise.

The witness told police Bohjanen had been trying to impress one of the women.
