Feb. 24, 2005: Jessica Lunsford is discovered missing by her father. She had been staying at her grandparents.
March 15, 2005: John Evander Couey, a convicted sex offender who lives near Jessica's home, is called a person of interest.

March 17, 2005: Couey is arrested in Augusta, Ga.
March 18, 2005: Couey confesses to police about abducting and murdering Jessie Lunsford.
March 19, 2005: Jessica's body is found buried 150 yards from her bedroom, behind Couey's home.
March 21, 2005: Couey is charged with first-degree murder, sexual battery on a child under 12, kidnapping, and burglary.
July 21, 2005: A trial is set for Feb. 6, 2006.
April 21, 2006: Circuit Judge Ric Howard grants a motion that will move Couey's trial to a different location.
July 10, 2006: Jury selection begins in Lake County. A few days later, Howard stops jury selection because of fears that an impartial jury may not be able to be found.
Sept. 12, 2006: It's announced Couey's trial jury will be selected in Miami-Dade beginning tentatively on Feb. 12, 2007.
Nov. 8, 2006: A defense motion is denied to move the trial from Miami.
Feb. 9, 2007: Couey arrives in Miami.
Feb. 28, 2007: After 12 days and interviews with 288 people, a jury is finally seated.
March 1, 2007: The trial gets under way.
March 7, 2007: After four hours of deliberation, the jury reaches a verdict of guilty on all counts.
