SUV Crashes Into Mandarin Store

No One Injured In What Police Describe As Accident

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A silver Lexus SUV drove into a store in a Mandarin strip mall Monday afternoon, crushing the storefront and destroying things near the front of the business.

Police said they were trying to find out why the driver went over the sidewalk, landing the vehicle in the More Space Place, near the Barnes and Noble store on San Jose Boulevard.

"All of a sudden, we heard screech, like the car, and then we heard the crashing sound, and we thought it was two cars crashing," said witness Andrea Gonzalez. "Then, all of a sudden, we heard like the ambulance, the fire, and then we came over here and we saw that inside the store, and it was like, 'Oh my gosh.'"

The name of the driver was not released, but police said no one was injured in the crash.

The police said they believe the crash was an accident and that alcohol was not a factor.
