FHP: Driver Cleaning Glasses Caused Wreck

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A crash Sunday on Interstate 295 at Old St. Augustine Road involving a Jacksonville Fire and Rescue engine was the result of a driver looking down to clean his glasses, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

State troopers said 34-year-old Matthew Taylor was looking down to clean his glasses when he slammed into the fire truck, which was parked on the side of the highway with its emergency lights on.

The vehicle then spun out of control and into the path of another car.

The drivers of both vehicles suffered minor injuries, and no one in the fire truck was hurt.
