ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Dental records were used to identify the body St. Johns firefighters found inside a burning car early Wednesday morning as 31-year-old Ryan Meharg.
Deputies and firefighters responded to a report of a burning car on Pomont Avenue near Usina Street just before 6 a.m. The 2008 Nissan had left the road, struck a tree and landed in a ditch.

Firefighters found the body after extinguishing the fire. Meharg, a St. Augustine resident, was found in the driver's seat and there were no other passengers in the car.
The cause of the crash and what caused Meharg's death remains under investigation.
