BRUNSWICK, Ga. – After recent violence between two groups of Brunswick youth, the Brunswick Police Department and Glynn County school resource officers are aggressively trying to end the feud.
Investigators say the groups, which have been labeled as "912" and "305" based on their area codes, are experiencing problems in large measure because of members switching alliances.

The 305 group consists of several teenagers and at least one adult whose families have relocated to the Brunswick area from Miami, but they have friends and associates within the Brunswick area as well. The 912 group is from Brunswick.
Police say the groups are not necessarily branded by colors and symbols and are smaller, less organized and have no affiliation to national gang organizations found in cities like Los Angeles or Chicago.
The Brunswick/Glynn County Schools investigation is trying to identify who is responsible for recent assaults between the two rival groups.
"Any criminal activity of this nature will not be tolerated. Those individuals responsible for enticing, instigating, assaulting and/or participating in such activity will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, which may include City ordinances and/or state charges," a release from the Brunswick Police Department reads.
Authorities say the groups could also be considered an, "ongoing criminal organization," which can be subject to federal charges under the U.S. Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.
Anyone with information about the groups and their activities is strongly encouraged to contact Detective Rob Mastroianni at the Brunswick Police Department 912-267-5559, ext. 1243, or Detective Angela Smith, ext. 1239, or Silent Witness at 912-267-5516.
