Man found guilty of shooting at girlfriend

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 25-year-old Jacksonville man was convicted this week on a charge of shooting or throwing deadly missiles.

In March 2011, Lewis Studemire III got into an argument with his girlfriend, Zandra Fluitt, while at home. The argument, which revolved around Fluitt's ex-boyfriend, took place near Fluitt's two children and Studemire's four children.

During the argument, Studemire and Fluitt went into their bedroom. Studemire pulled out a handgun from a closet and then shot at Fluitt. The bullet missed Fluitt and hit the wall behind her.

Fluitt was able to get away from Studemire and called the police for help.

Studemire faces 15 years in prison. He will be sentenced the week of Jan. 7.
