ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – This week, all eyes will be on the nation's oldest city as it celebrates Florida's Quincentennial.
Today marks 500 years since Ponce De Leon stepped foot on the state's sandy shores. To celebrate, a variety of events have been scheduled. This includes colorful reenactments, cannon firings, a musket drill, and a visit from the Governor.

Governor Scott arrived at the Castillo De San Marco to help fire a cannon at 6:45 Tuesday morning. This signaled the start of a 2-day celebration of the anniversary.
He was joined by the state's top elected officials who were also in town for a Cabinet meeting at Flagler College. Florida Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam says they're lucky to be here and it's a special opportunity.
Tuesday's events wrap up at 11 a.m. with a public ceremony where a bronze statue of Ponce De Leon will be dedicated.
