JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police think speed and alcohol were factors in a crash on Roosevelt Boulevard that killed two drivers and sent a passenger to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Officer, a Dodge Charger was going north on Roosevelt at the Edgewood Avenue overpass just before 10 p.m. Investigators believe the driver lost control and the car crossed the median and struck a southbound Mazda head-on near the intersection of Randall Street.
Both drivers died at the scene. A man in the Charger was taken to Shands Jacksonville Medical Center, where he was in critical condition.
The names of the victims have not been released.
Five blocks of Roosevelt Boulevard were closed for hours as the scene was investigated by JSO homicide detectives and the wreckage was cleared.
