Death investigation at the Hyatt Regency

Jacksonville police: Man jumps from 16th-floor balcony

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police say a 39-year-old man jumped to his death Saturday night from the 16th floor balcony at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront hotel.

Officers rushed to the scene around 7 p.m.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, Clint Aaron Hobbs checked into the hotel earlier in the day. Investigators believe the man was alone at the time he fell and suspect he jumped, landing on the hood of a Lexus near the valet parking lot.

Police say Hobbs was a Jacksonville resident.

Police were investigating whether this incident was alcohol-related.

Channel 4 is told that two proms were just getting started when the man jumped. Police made students take a side entrance while officers were working at the scene.
