DUI crash puts two in hospital

Broad St. southbound at State St. back open

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Southbound lanes of Broad Street at State Street in downtown Jacksonville were closed for more than an hour early Friday morning due to a crash with injuries.

Two vehicles were involved in the crash, which occurred sometime around 3 a.m., according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

A silver car was heading northbound on Broad Street, ran a red light and hit a white car that was heading westbound on State Street.

JSO said the driver of the silver car was driving under the influence.

Police said two people in the white car were taken to UF Health. Their conditions are unknown, but police said they will be OK.

The driver of the silver car was taken to jail and is expected to face charges related to the crash.

All lanes of Broad Street were reopened around 4:45 a.m. Friday.

The identity of the people involved in the crash have not yet been released.
