Power restored in last building after transformer fire

CSX building still on generator power after separate incident Friday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The last building to have power restored from last Wednesday's transformer fire in the Brooklyn area was LTS on Sunday morning, according to JEA.

Officials said the building's owners had kept it on generator power while checking the electrical connections.

The transformer fire left about 100 customers from Riverside to downtown without power, some for nearly 24 hours. Most of those affected were companies and smaller businesses.

Meanwhile, the CSX building at 550 Water St. is still on generator power after Friday's electrical arc seriously burned two workers.

JEA worker John Jenquine remains in critical but stable condition at UF Health Gainesville.

It's still uncertain if the two incidents are related.

JEA is investigating the transformer fire, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the industrial accident.
