Domestic violence call ends with fire

Man barricades himself, sets fire to garage

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A house was on fire when officers with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic violence call shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday.

According the arrest report, Khen Tang, 53, pistol-whipped his wife in their home on Lane Avenue in Hyde Park. She was able to escape the house.

Authorities said Tang then set fire to the garage, which caught the rest of the house on fire.

Tang then barricaded himself inside, authorities said. JSO was able to negotiate with the man and he came out peacefully.

Tang is charged with arson and domestic battery.

The man's wife was taken to St. Vincent's Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
