Car crashes into back of school bus on CR 216 at US 17

PALATKA, Fla. – A child was treated for minor injuries after a school bus was involved in a crash Wednesday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Sometime before 9 a.m. a car collided into the back of a school bus on County Road 216 at U.S. 17 in Palatka, according to FHP.

The bus was transporting 25 children to James A. Long Elementary School, according to FHP.

The students were transferred to another bus and taken to school.

The driver of the car, 18-year-old Faith Bennett, was not hurt.

School officials said the bus was checked and cleared to pick students up Wednesday afternoon.

FHP is investigating the crash and has not yet filed any charges against any of the drivers.
