More charges added against fugitive accused of faking death

St. Johns County man charged with 70 counts of possession of child pornography

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A 49-year-old St. Johns County man who detectives believed attempted to fake his own death to avoid prosecution on child pornography charges has had 20 more charges of child porn possession added against him.

John Charles Price was found and arrested last month living in an RV in the Ocala National Forest.

Price was initially charged with 50 counts of possession of child pornography. A search of his laptop in the RV resulted in the additional 20 charges.

Price was arrested last year on the child pornography charges and was released after posting $255,000 bond four days later. He was scheduled for trial on those charges in state court on Oct. 6.

Price was last heard from three days before his scheduled court date when he called 911 and said he had injured his shoulder while fishing under the State Road 206 bridge. Detectives believed Price made the call to fake his death to avoid prosecution.
