Croslin files ineffective counsel appeal
Croslin represented herself in court on appeal of 25-year drug sentence
ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – Misty Croslin was in St. Johns County Court on Monday, representing herself in a hearing during which she asked to file a belated motion to appeal her 25-year drug sentence based on ineffective counsel.
The judge took the request under advisement.
Croslin was arrested in 2010, more than a year after the disappearance of 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings from Satsuma. Croslin was the girlfriend of Cummings' father and was baby-sitting the night Haleigh disappeared. Putnam County investigators consider the case a homicide.
Croslin and Haleigh's father have since married and divorced.
Croslin and others at the home that night were questioned on numerous occasions, but no one was ever charged in that case.
