JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Transportation Authority is extending the hours for the Skyway on New Year's Eve to accommodate Taxslayer Bowl visitors and Jacksonville residents.
The Skyway will be operational from 6 a.m. on New Year's Eve until 2 a.m. on New Year's Day. It will re-open at 10 a.m. on New Year's Day and close at 6 p.m. The Skyway will operate on a normal schedule from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 2, 2015.
In addition, the parking lots around JTA's Convention Center station located at 1071 W. Bay Street, will be open for complimentary parking after 5 p.m. on New Year's Eve and all day on New Year's Day.
"Thousands of residents and visitors attend the festivities and fireworks along the St. Johns River on New Year's Eve and the parade on New Year's Day," Lisa Darnall, vice president of JTA Transit Operations, said in a news release. "We invite those attending these events to experience the Skyway and utilize this convenient mode of downtown transportation."
