JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Gov. Rick Scott has unveiled a proposal for $1 million in STEM education funding for K through 12 students.
The governor wants to join with high-tech companies to create a paid summer residency program for STEM -- science, technology, engineering and math -- teachers to bring new ideas into classrooms.

His "Keep Florida Working" budget also calls for $30 million for a new training initiative focused on STEM occupations and $5 million toward STEM degrees at state colleges.
In all, 16 Florida companies have confirmed their participation including local firms CoWork Jax, Embraer Aircraft Holding, and Northrop Grumman in St. Augustine.
