Motormaxx car lot owner shot by painter

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police say Gavrilov Mikhaylovich, 31, the owner of Motormaxx car sales on Atlantic Boulevard, was shot in the leg Monday afternoon by a painter who was doing work at the business.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said Mikhaylovich came back from lunch and was confronted by Phillip Dewayne Burns, 47,  just after 2 p.m. Police said that at one point in the argument, the Burns fired a shot, then jumped into a vehicle and speed away.

An employee of the victim followed the Burns to 8th Street and called police. Police were called and Burns was arrested.

Police said Mikhaylovich was taken into surgery, but was expected to make a full recovery.

After looking into Burns background police say that he was already a convicted Florida felon and is on parole in Georgia. 

Motormaxx, is on Atlantic Boulevard, a few blocks west of Southside Boulevard.
