5 people displaced after fire near apartment

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Five people can't stay in their home after a fire Sunday night destroyed a shed next to an apartment complex on the Westside.

Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department said it first learned about the fire on Westchase Court at 7:15 p.m. Sunday. Numerous calls came into the newsroom from viewers.

JFRD said the fire started at two sheds and began to spread. It caused some damage to an apartment complex, and five people inside one apartment were removed from the home as a precautionary measure.

Fire rescue said the first arriving unit was a ladder truck. An additional engine was later called to the scene.

No one was injured in the fire and JFRD is investigating the cause.
