2 injured when car hits riding mower

HASTINGS, Fla. – A woman is still recovering at UF Health Jacksonville after a car hit a riding mower early Saturday morning in St. Johns County.

Deputies say 35-year-old Bryan Banner was driving the mower south on West Deep Creek Boulevard about 1 a.m., pulling a small utility trailer. Lindsay Jo White, 28, was in the trailer.

The lawn mower was hit from behind by a 2003 Oldsmobile sedan, driven by Cleo Kersey.

Rescuers airlifted Banner and White to UF Health Jacksonville.  Family members told News4JAX that Banner was released from the hospital Saturday, but said White remained in critical condition.

Kersey told News4JAX that she was driving home at the time of the crash when she hit the trailer and lawn mower.  She said it was dark at the time, and that she immediately called 911, staying on the phone until paramedics arrived.

The crash remains under investigation. No charges have been filed.
