Pedestrian critically injured in Macclenny crash

Florida Highway Patrol says pedestiran was wearing dark clothing


MACCLENNY, Fla. – A man is in critical condition after he was hit by a pickup truck in Macclenny early Sunday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers say they were called at 2:44 a.m. about the accident on Woodlawn Road just west of Woodlawn Cemetery Road in Macclenny.

Investigators say 34-year-old Johnnie Carter, of Macclenny, was wearing dark clothing while walking west on Woodlawn Cemetery Road when he was struck by a Nissan pickup truck driven by Robert Force Jr., 30, also of Macclenny.

Carter was taken to UF Health Jacksonville with life-threatening injures.

According to the FHP report charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
