Police: Pedestrian hit by car last month dies

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 50-year-old pedestrian who was hit by a car on Parental Home Road on the Southside last month has died, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.

Kurtis Guy Helms was hit when he walked into the path of a car near the intersection of Hogan Road about 6:45 a.m. April 7, police said.

He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, but later died at the hospital on May 26.

Police said there were signs of impairment observed in Helms, and he was about 45 feet away from a pedestrian crosswalk when he was hit.
