Delay in reopening of U.S. 301 railroad crossing

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The reopening of the U.S. 301 railroad crossing has been delayed from Thursday evening to Friday at 8 p.m.

According to the Florida Department of Transportation, the roadway could be closed longer due to weather. Law enforcement officers will be assisting with the road closure.

The detour will continue between Interstate 10 and U.S. 90.

Northbound traffic is detoured to I-10 east to Chaffee Road (exit 351) to U.S. 90 west and back to U.S. 301.

Southbound traffic is detoured to U.S. 90 eastbound to south on Chaffee Road to I-10 west and back to U.S. 301 (exit 343).

The closure is due to the two-track railroad crossing, operated by CXT Transportation Inc., that is being replaced with new concrete that will last longer and hold up better with heavy traffic. The area is also being resurfaced once the crossing is replaced.

FDOT will oversee the project.

For the latest updates on reopening the crossing, the public may call 888-558-1518.
