JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was found guilty Thursday afternoon in connection to a fatal shooting that happened in 2014, the State Attorney's Office said.
John Ray Smith, 31, was found guilty as charged of conspiracy to commit armed robbery and second-degree felony murder.

Smith and his cousin, Christopher Seymour, 27, planned to rob and assault the victim at his Southpoint Place apartment home in February 2014, state attorneys said.
Smith and Seymour equipped themselves with a firearm, handcuffs, knives, a bulletproof vest and police badges, and went to the victim's home with the intent to rob or kill him, according to state attorneys.
While Seymour was inside the home, there was an altercation, which resulted in Seymour being shot in the head. State attorneys said he later died at the hospital as a result of his injuries.
Smith now faces up to life in prison. State attorneys said he will be sentenced the week of Aug. 31.
