Bullets hit Southside church

No one inside when shots went through the front door

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Members of a Southside church are shaken up after someone fired shots through the front door.

This happened at Father's Heart Fellowship on Beach Boulevard either late Saturday night or early Sunday morning. It was after hours and no one was hurt.

The pastor and his wife started this church in June of 2014. So they have no idea who would do this. Two bullets went into the church.

Across the street, there are two gentleman's clubs, each with a history of shootings. One is Passions, the other is Mascara's. Bosque says despite this, the people in the neighborhood are one of the reasons he does what he does.

"Everybody that is around this area and all the clubs and different stuff, these are the people the Lord loves. These are the people
we want to bring in.," Bosque said. "We want them to hear about Jesus and hear about what's happening, so their lives can change."

The pastor, Marcos Bosque, tells News4Jax chances are, these are stray bullets. He showed us where the bullets entered the church and the damage they caused inside. This was discovered around 8 o'clock Sunday morning.

The front door was shattered, but nothing appeared to have been stolen. Pastor Bosque says he hopes the person who did this will see the story and understand
the impact it's having.

"You hope that somebody who does something like this gets to realize what they're doing," Bosque said. "I mean, this is the house of God. Every dollar that comes in here is given to help people who are need in situations. It's a sad thing to come back and see this after the work we've done."

There are already plans to make necessary repairs to the church.
