Kemp Galleneau bitten on left calf

SEVILLE, Fla. – Volusia County Fire Rescue responded to an alligator bite Sunday morning near Lake George in Seville.

VCFR officials said an alligator hunter, identified as Kemp Galleneau, suffered a minor bite to his leg at about 9:45 a.m. near the 1600 block of Lake George Road in Seville.

According to officials, Galleneau had a legal tag for the gator and had it next to the boat. He fell overboard and was bitten on the left calf by the gator, which was reported to be about 12 feet or larger.

Galleneau was taken to Deland Hospital as a non-emergency transport for the bite.

Officials said the alligator is now dead.
