Man sentenced to life in prison for shooting, killing brother

Victor Wilson convicted of 2nd-degree murder

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Victor Wilson, 48, was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday afternoon after being convicted of second-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and aggravated assault in October.

Wilson, his brother Eugene Wilson and his brother's girlfriend were at Victor Wilson's home in December 2012 when the two brothers started to argue, police say. When the argument escalated, Victor Wilson pulled out a gun and shot his brother multiple times. He then pointed the gun at the girlfriend as she tried to get help.

Eugene Wilson was taken to the hospital, where he died of his injuries.

The murder charge carries a 25-year minimum sentence. Wilson also received 15 years for the other charges, which carry a three-year minimum sentence.

Wilson has a prior felony conviction for armed robbery with a weapon.
