JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Prevention and quick thinking could make the difference if your child gets into poison.

National Poison Prevention Week begins this week (March 20-26) and poison prevention partners across the country are raising awareness on one of the leading causes of injury death in the U.S.

Children can confuse everyday household items with food or drinks.

The Florida/USVI Poison Information Center – Jacksonville has joined the American Association of Poison Control Centers  to help provide more information on poison prevention.

In 1961, the United States Congress designated the third week in March each year as National Poison Prevention Week, a week dedicated to raising awareness about poisoning in the U.S. and highlighting specific ways to prevent it.

The Florida/USVI Poison Information Center - Jacksonville is available 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.

Call the Center at 1-800-222-1222 (Voice/TTY) for poisoning emergencies or to ask for information.
