Grocery store chain Aldi is eating into Walmart's business in the Sunshine State. The company is known for its smaller stores and cheaper prices. It has currently has 52 stores in Florida, including one on Jacksonville's Southside and one in St. Augustine.

The store wants to expand to more than 2,000 locations nationwide over the next few years. Publix is still the most popular grocery store in Florida, but it may need to respond if Aldi continues to grow.

In other consumer news, Wawa is looking to hire more than 5000 new workers nationwide. The company says it will hire customer-service level positions in more than 700 stores in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Virginia and Florida.

Every location will have openings.

Wawa announced in January that it was raising its starting to pay to $10 per hour. There are currently no Wawa locations in Northeast Florida, though there are some under construction.

Wawa is popular in Central Florida and in the Tampa Bay area.
