Pedestrian struck by car on Sunbeam Road

Woman, 31, taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, JSO says

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A pedestrian stepped out into traffic and was struck by a car Thursday evening in Mandarin, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.

The accident was reported just before 9 p.m. on Sunbeam Road near Craven Road.

The 31-year-old woman was taken to UF Health hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said. 

"Cross at the crosswalks when possible, and don't step out in front of the car," JSO Sgt. J.P. Morgan said.

Just minutes later, a second pedestrian was hit and killed in a separate crash on San Jose Boulevard. 

The Sheriff's Office continues to investigate.
