1-year-old, 2 others injured in San Jose crash
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Three people were injured on Monday, including a 1-year-old child, when a man ran a stop sign trying to run from a crash they were involved with moments prior.
According to police, the man was driving south on San Jose Boulevard when he rear-ended another car, which was stopped in traffic.
The man then fled the scene and merged onto Via De La Reina Boulevard. He ran the stop sign at St. Augustine Road and Via De Le Reina Boulevard at high speed and crashed into a car that was driving east on St. Augustine Road, officials said.
The second crash disabled both cars involved.
The passenger riding with the man who ran the stop sign was taken to UF Health Jacksonville with life-threatening injuries, officials said.
The driver of the second car the man crashed into was taken to Baptist Medical Center along with his 1-year-old child. Both suffered non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
The crash closed all northbound traffic on St. Augustine Road from San Jose Boulevard to Via De La Reina Street.
