HAWTHORNE, Fla. – An 81-year-old Gainesville man died in a head-on crash Thursday night on State Road 20 in Hawthorne, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Marshall Gordon Streib was driving eastbound on State Road 20, west of U.S. 301, when for unknown reasons he crossed the center median into oncoming traffic and collided head on with an SUV.

Streib died at the scene. The driver of the SUV, 64-year-old Shelly Ann Fanus-Williams, was taken to UF Shands Hospital in Gainesville with serious injuries.
