Vigil held for woman found dead behind abandoned home

Lisa Dizor, 37, found in wooded area behind shed in abandoned home's backyard

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The family of a 37-year-old woman found dead behind an abandoned home on Jacksonville's Northwest side held a vigil for her Sunday.

Lisa Dizor's body was spotted lying in a wooded area behind a shed in the backyard of a home on Eerie Avenue Thanksgiving Day.

Police believe Dizor had been there a few days before her body was discovered. Authorities still have not released an official cause of death, but said they do suspect foul play.

Dizor’s family said she had scratches and marks on her face, and a neighbor nearby said he heard screaming a few nights before she was discovered.

Family members held the vigil at the spot where she was found. They had candles, balloons and pictures. Her best friend’s daughter said Dizor was like an aunt to her. Attendees left an angel there, signifying she is now an angel in heaven.

"She was so funny," said Sybal Holand, Dizor's aunt. "She likes to laugh, she likes to tell jokes, she was a very sweet girl."

Dizor had two children. Her husband, Ramil Ponce, said they were separated at the moment but we're talking about getting back together. He said they were very close and those two kids don't entirely know what's going on.

"One thing I know about Lisa,” Ponce said shedding tears, “is she loved her two children very much. I told them that mommy is going to heaven. I don't know how to explain (it). They keep asking, but that's all I can say."

Anyone with information regarding Dizor’s death is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
