JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was shot Thursday night in the city's Lackawanna neighborhood, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.
Officers responded to a shooting just after 7 p.m. at the corner of Thomas Street and Shearer Avenue, just off McDuff Avenue.

Police said they found a man who had been shot inside a vehicle. He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
It was not yet known whether the man was shot while he was inside the vehicle, JSO Sgt. Jaime Eason said.
The shooter was believed to have run off, and the JSO helicopter was called to search the area but was unable to locate him, Eason said.
Detectives continue to investigate.
