Cinotti's Bakery celebrates National Doughnut Day

Local establishment brings back infamous pumpkin doughnuts for day

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. – Cinotti's Bakery brought back its infamous pumpkin doughnuts Friday to celebrate National Doughnut Day.

"It's National Doughnut Day, and we can't have National Doughnut Day without our most popular doughnut, which is the pumpkin doughnut," owner Melissa Folette said. "It creates a frenzy anytime we mention the name."

Folette told News4Jax they already had 360 dozen pumpkin doughnuts on order as of Friday morning.

"I would say by the time today's over, (it'll) probably be close to 700 dozen," she said.

People lined up outside the Jacksonville Beach establishment on Penman Road to get their hands on the sweet treat.

"This is like Christmas in July, right? It's the same concept," one excited customer told News4Jax.

Cinotti's Bakery brought in extra staff and worked all night to prepare for the "holiday."

"Surprisingly, we're all still in a great mood. We love each other. We're exhausted. We work tomorrow, then we take the weekend and recoup, and start all over Tuesday," Folette said. "We've got about 25 employees. Most of them are here right now because they love the chaos!"

The bakery was also offering its signature spring doughnut flavor of strawberry. For more information, visit cinottisbakery.com.
