Man killed after SUV becomes airborne

Crash started with stop sign runner

JACKSONVILLE, Fla – The Florida Highway Patrol says a man was killed Friday morning at the intersection of Busch Drive and Gun Club Road.

Troopers say a woman ran a stop sign on Gun Club Road and hit the front end of a 2012 Dodge Journey driven by Jean Loreston, 49.

The collision caused both cars to turn clockwise. Loreston's Dodge traveled into the path of another oncoming car and was struck again causing the Journey to become airborne and land on top of the car that ran the stop sign.

Loreston was transported to UF Health where he died.
