UPS to hire 1,600 for positions in Jacksonville

Company hiring now through end of October

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Looking for a job? You’re in luck: UPS is looking to fill about 1,600 new part-time positions, the company confirmed Monday.

The jobs are for the hub that’s currently being expanded and a new relief hub-type operations building -- both located in Jacksonville.

The hiring process is underway now through October, a company spokesperson said. The goal is to have all 1,600 positions filled and trained by Nov. 1.

The jobs are for four different sorting shifts.

People interested in a job are encouraged to start the application process online. Some positions are eligible for benefits, including tuition assistance.

The new portion of the Jacksonville building will be open late 2018, with the retrofit of the existing building to be completed late 2019.

“In the meantime, we are maintaining customer service and keeping the hub operating,” UPS said in a statement. “One of the ways we keep packages moving during build out when parts of the existing hub are under construction is by establishing what we call a ‘relief hub’ during for processing UPS Ground packages. This leased building will be operating by our peak holiday shipping season this year and is one of the primary locations for the new part-time jobs.”
