Taddeo to be sworn in next week
Democrat Annette Taddeo, who won a special election last week in a Miami-Dade County Senate district, will be sworn in Oct. 10, according to a Senate calendar published Monday.
Taddeo defeated Republican Jose Felix Diaz in Senate District 40, which was vacated when former Sen. Frank Artiles, R-Miami, resigned in April.
The Senate has scheduled a swearing-in ceremony for 9 a.m. Oct. 10 in the Senate chamber.
The state Elections Canvassing Commission also is scheduled to meet at 9 a.m. Oct. 10 to formally certify the results of the special election, a process that typically lasts only a few minutes.
