FHP: Man dies, Woman seriously injured in Alachua County 3-car crash

Man was driving wrong way down US Highway 441 north of Micanopy

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – A man died and a woman was seriously injured Friday in a three-car crash on US Highway 441 north of Micanopy in Alachua County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Michael Wynne, 51, of High Springs, was driving the wrong way on US Highway 441 at about 11:33 p.m. and sideswiped Jennifer Hodge, 37, of Deland, troopers said.

After crashing into Hodge, Wynne then crashed head-on into Lewis Curl, 20, of Gainesville, troopers said. 

The momentum of the head-on impact forced Curl’s car to flip, troopers said. 
Wynne was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said. 

Curl’s passenger, Neva Kelly, 46, of Gainesville, was seriously injured in the crash, troopers said. She was taken to UF Health Shands.

Hodge was not injured in the crash.
