FEMA to hire locals to help Irma recovery efforts

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Federal Emergency Management Agency announced on Saturday that it will hire area residents to help disaster recovery efforts in the wake of Hurricane Irma. 

Those hired will join recovery teams comprised of local and federal workers, voluntary agencies, and community organizations.

The agency said the temporary employees give FEMA community insight, provides jobs and allows them to help rebuild their community. 

Jobs are located in: 

  • Fort Myers 
  • Jacksonville 
  • Miami 
  • Orlando 
  • Tallahassee 

Desired experience includes: 

  • Floodplain Management 
  • Cost Analysis 
  • Civil Engineering 
  • Site Inspections 
  • Flood or Casualty Insurance 
  • Historic Preservation
