Man accused of fatally shooting father ruled not competent for prosecution

Man told doctors at hospital, then police that he killed his father, JSO says

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man accused of fatally shooting his father in July 2016 was ruled not competent to face trial Monday, News4Jax has learned.

Zachery Nathaniel Allen, 24, was arrested July 8, 2016, on a charge of murder, days after he told doctors at a hospital that he shot his father, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Allen's father, Carlton Allen, 55, was found dead of gunshot wounds at his home on McGirts Creek Drive.

Zachery Allen had previously diagnosed mental health issues before the shooting.
