Caregiver described Nathaniel Butler as nice, caring man

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was hit and killed by a vehicle Monday night in Northwest Jacksonville, police said.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, Nathaniel Butler, 63, died when a car hit him on Lem Turner Road.

The vehicle was traveling east in the outside lane of Lem Turner Road, near Lem Turner Circle, about 7 p.m. when the accident happened.

Traffic homicide detectives were called to investigate. They said the driver of the vehicle, who was the only person in the vehicle, stopped and is cooperating with investigators. Two lanes of Lem Turner Road were closed for several hours after the crash.

Butler's caregiver told News4Jax on Tuesday that Butler was a nice, caring man who walked from his home to the Lem Turner Road area often.

The caregiver said Butler used to work at a restaurant on the street, but had retired.
