Motorcyclist critically injured in head-on collision, according to JSO

Driver of car transported with non-life threatening injuries

Motorcycle and car collide head-on on Collins road around 2:20 a.m., early Saturday morning.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A motorcycle rider was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after colliding with a car on Collins Road early Saturday morning, according to Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say the car was driving east on Collins Road around 2:20 a.m. when it crashed head-on into a westbound motorcycle. The reasons and fault are still unknown.

Both the motorcyclist and the driver of the car were taken to area hospitals, but the driver's injuries were not life-threatening.

JSO deputies closed Collins Road at Roosevelt Boulevard while traffic homicide detectives investigated the accident. 

The names of those involved in the crash have not yet been released.
