Police: Man arrested after woman shot multiple times in New Town

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was arrested Tuesday after a woman was shot multiple times in New Town, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. 

Alex Harold Rackley Jr., 58, is charged with attempted murder.

Police said a woman with multiple gunshot wounds was found just after 1 a.m. Tuesday inside a home on West First Street, just south of Kings Road. Police said the woman, who was described as being in her 30s, was taken to a hospital.

According to Rackley's arrest report, the victim told police in a hand-written interview that she asked the suspect to come over to her apartment and later asked the suspect leave. Police said the victim's son was in the apartment at the time.

Rackley was booked late Tuesday evening into the Duval County jail, where he's being held without bond, online jail records show.
