Adam West, who starred as Batman in the 1960s television series, has died. He was 88.
West died Friday night in Los Angeles after a short battle with leukemia, a family representative said.

The "Batman" actor died peacefully, surrounded by his family, and is survived by his wife, six children, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
"Our dad always saw himself as the bright knight and aspired to make a positive impact on his fans' lives," his family said in a statement. "He was and always will be our hero."
West starred in three seasons of the campy ABC TV show opposite Burt Ward as Robin from 1966 until its cancellation in 1968. He also starred in the 1966 "Batman" film and provided the voice of Quahog, Rhode Island, Mayor Adam West in the animated television series "Family Guy."
